Burma is a complex consisting of 7 « autonomous » states and seven regions that are the heart of the historical Burma. The seven areas form what the Burmese call « Burma proper » (Burma proper English), that is to say the country of Burma.
The seven states each correspond to one of the other major ethnic groups inhabiting Myanmar (Chin, Kachin, Karen, Kayah, Mon, Rakhine, Shan). the heart of the problem is key to solving for the future and stability of the country.
